The first flight of airBerlin took place in April 1979 , when a Boeing 707 took off from the airport Berlin - Tegel with destination Palma de Mallorca. Today, airBerlin offer its passengers a worldwide network of routes with over 800 flights daily and is the second largest airline in Germany after Lufthansa.

The fleet consist of 155 aircrafts.

AirBerlin flies to more than 150 destinations worldwide. (60 destinations at 40 countries)

In April 2012 , the airBerlin wins the prize as the best " low cost airline company".
