Aircraft Manufacturers

The construction of an aircraft is a lengthy and expensive process. At this time there are companies all over the world that produce many kinds of aircrafts, for personal, civil and military use. The biggest European manufacturer of civilian aircrafts is Airbus, with plants in France, Germany, UK and Spain. The company also has a site in China. Smaller European manufacturers are French-Italian ATR and British Aerospace (BAE) Systems.

Airbus’ main rival is American manufacturer, Boeing. Also based in the American Continent are Brazilian Embraer and Canadian Bombardier.
One of the big forces in aircraft manufacturing in the past was Russia, with companies like Ilyushin, Tupolev and other small ones. The aircrafts were mostly used by Eastern Bloc Countries. These past few years Russian manufacturers are trying for a come back, through extensive restructuring and by presenting new models, they try to gain a piece of the market.
